How the simulator works
The schedule pane runs week by week. Click a team to give it the win; click it again to undo. Every pick updates the right-hand side immediately: the eight division tables re-sort by record, and the playoff picture shows each conference's top seven — the four division winners seeded by record, then the three best wild cards. Seed one gets the first-round bye. When the season is decided, that is your projected bracket.
The seeding is not a guess. It runs on the same engine as our NFL Playoff Predictor, which resolves ties in NFL order — head-to-head first, then division record, common games and conference record. If you would rather see the odds of each team making the playoffs across thousands of simulated seasons, that predictor runs the Monte-Carlo version; this tool is the hands-on one where you call every game yourself.
Predict the divisions
Working out the 2026 divisions is where a schedule simulator earns its keep. Because the whole board reacts to a single game, you can test what one upset does to an entire division race — flip a Week 18 result and watch a wild card become a division winner, or a bye slip from one conference favorite to another. The 2026 fixtures come from nflverse and match the official schedule, international games included.

How does the NFL Schedule Simulator work?
It loads the full 2026 regular-season schedule — all 272 games across 18 weeks. You pick a winner for each game, and the standings for every division plus the seven-team playoff field for each conference recalculate instantly. Seeding uses the real NFL tiebreaker order, so division winners take seeds one through four and the three best remaining teams take the wild-card seeds.
Can it simulate the season for me?
Yes. Pick as many or as few games as you like, then hit "Simulate the rest" and every game you have not picked is decided with a coin flip that gives the home team a modest edge. Do it again for a different outcome. Clear picks resets the whole board.
Are the tiebreakers accurate?
The seeding runs on the same tiebreaker engine as our NFL Playoff Predictor — head-to-head, division record, common games, conference record and the strength tiebreakers, in NFL order. Because a pick-em only records wins and losses, the deepest points-based tiebreakers rarely come into play, but the ladder that decides real seeds is applied.
Is the 2026 schedule the real one?
Yes. The fixtures come from nflverse, the open NFL data project, and match the official 2026 regular-season schedule, including the international and neutral-site games (which carry no home-field edge in the simulation).
