Drill: the step-through swing. Set up normally, then as you start the downswing, step your trail foot toward the target. A simple version, three sessions a week: warm up with 5–10 normal-speed swings, then swing a lightweight training club at 100% effort for 5 reps, resting 30–45 seconds between reps for 10 total reps, and finish with 3–5 swings of your actual driver trying to carry the increased tempo over.

Common mistakes and how to fix them

Chasing speed with the arms. Swinging “harder” usually means swinging faster with the arms and upper body, which breaks sequencing and rarely shows up as real clubhead speed. Fix: return to the step-through drill any time your miss pattern gets worse — it is a sequencing check, not just a warm-up.
