The UCLA total of 18 is the NCAA-recognized figure, with a 1980 appearance vacated. Louisville and Michigan have each had appearances vacated as well, which is why some published lists show lower official totals for those schools.

UCLA, Duke and Kentucky

UCLA’s 18 Final Fours are defined by the John Wooden dynasty, which produced 10 championships in 12 years and remains the greatest run in college sports history. Duke and Kentucky are tied for third with 17 each, with Duke’s coming largely under Mike Krzyzewski and Kentucky’s spread across the Adolph Rupp era and the modern one-and-done years. The next tier

Ohio State (11), Michigan State (10) and Louisville (10) headline the group just outside the blue bloods, with Tom Izzo’s Michigan State teams providing much of the Spartans’ modern total. Indiana and Michigan follow at eight apiece, though Michigan’s official figure is lower after vacaturs.
