Lewis Hamilton holds the Formula 1 record for the most podium finishes, with 202 top-three results, a total no other driver has approached. Michael Schumacher is a distant second with 155, and Sebastian Vettel is third on 122.

A podium means finishing a Grand Prix in the top three, so the career count rewards something even more demanding than winning races: it requires a driver to be at the front, in the right car, across hundreds of events. The record holder: Lewis Hamilton and 202 podiums

Hamilton reached the podium in more than half of every race he entered during his peak years, an extraordinary hit rate sustained across nearly two decades. He became the first driver in history to reach 200 podiums in 2023, extending a record he had first taken from Schumacher back in 2017.

His total is built on the longest sustained run of front-running form the sport has seen, first with McLaren and then throughout the Mercedes dynasty. As an active driver, now with Ferrari, he continues to add to the mark, pushing it further out of reach.

The list blends eras: Prost and Senna from the 1980s and 1990s, Schumacher and Raikkonen from the 2000s, and the modern Hamilton-Vettel-Verstappen generation, three of whom are still racing.

Schumacher, Vettel and the two-time-era greats

Michael Schumacher’s 155 podiums led the sport for years and reflected a career spent almost entirely at the front, especially during his Ferrari dominance. Sebastian Vettel’s 122 came largely from his Red Bull title run and a long, competitive career that followed. Both sit comfortably clear of the older greats but far behind Hamilton.

Max Verstappen and Fernando Alonso are the only current drivers in the top five. Verstappen is climbing fastest, powered by his Red Bull dominance, though he remains more than 80 podiums behind Hamilton.
