Breeders' Cup 2026: Schedule, Tickets and TV Guide

The 2026 Breeders’ Cup takes place at Keeneland Race Course in Lexington, Kentucky, on Friday, October 30, and Saturday, October 31. Its 14 Grade 1 championship races include five two-year-old races on Friday and nine races on Saturday, ending with the $7 million Breeders’ Cup Classic.

The dates and race program are confirmed. The final horses, post positions, post times and detailed television windows were not yet confirmed when this guide was checked on September 4, 2026. That distinction matters: a horse can be a leading contender or earn an automatic berth without being a final starter.

The official race page lists the championship program in the following order. This is the race sequence, not a timetable: individual post times had not been published at our cutoff.

Friday, October 30: two-year-old championships

Friday is often called Future Stars Friday because every championship is restricted to two-year-olds. The Juvenile and Juvenile Fillies are the dirt highlights, while the other three races are on turf.

Saturday, October 31: nine championships and the Classic

Saturday stretches from one-mile specialists and sprinters to the 1 1/2-mile Turf. The Classic is the richest championship and the final race in the official sequence. That $7 million purse is one reason its result can shape Horse of the Year voting.

The 14 purses above add to $30 million. You may also see the event advertised as offering more than $34 million in purses and awards. That broader promotional total includes more than the 14 championship purses alone, so the two figures are not contradictory.

Tickets: what is actually available now

Ticket inventory has already narrowed. The official sales page showed the following status when checked on September 4, 2026:

These are advertised starting prices, not guaranteed checkout totals. Inventory and fees can change. Use the official Breeders’ Cup ticket page or its linked official resale partner rather than an unverified seller.

Trackside general admission is the remaining entry-level option, but it is not a reserved seat. Fan discussions about previous Keeneland editions repeatedly mention crowded viewing areas and busy paddock rails. If seeing a particular horse is your priority, arrive before that horse’s race and expect popular sightlines to fill early.

That is audience experience, not an event rule. One fan discussion about attending at Keeneland also included a useful minority view: a casual visitor focused on one celebrity horse may find the price and crowds disappointing. The weekend makes most sense for someone who wants a full day of championship racing, not only a quick glimpse of one runner.

Before buying, check the official grounds map, parking information, admission policies and dress guidance linked from the ticket page. Do not assume the policies for an ordinary Keeneland meet are identical to Breeders’ Cup weekend.

Horses, entries and the “Win and You’re In” path

The Breeders’ Cup Challenge is an international series of qualifying races. Winners receive an automatic starting position in a specified championship division, which is why the series is promoted as “Win and You’re In.”

An automatic berth is not the same thing as a final race-day field. A horse can still change course before entries, and field limits, eligibility and connections’ decisions still matter. How to watch the 2026 Breeders’ Cup

NBC Sports and the Breeders’ Cup have extended their media partnership through 2030. The partnership covers NBC, Peacock and USA Network, so those are the confirmed US broadcast partners for this event cycle.

What is not yet confirmed is the exact 2026 division of races among those outlets, along with the start and finish of each broadcast window. International viewers should also wait for a territory-specific official listing. A service carrying the races in one country does not automatically own the rights elsewhere.

Friday or Saturday: which day should you choose?

Choose Friday if your main interest is two-year-old racing and spotting horses that could shape the following season. All five championships are for juveniles, and the Friday race purses total $7 million.

Choose Saturday for the broader championship card and the biggest purses. It has the Turf, Distaff, Mile, Sprint and $7 million Classic, with $23 million across nine championship races.

If you want to experience the entire event, the two days are deliberately different rather than two versions of the same card. Friday introduces the next generation; Saturday settles many of the current season’s major divisions.
